Welcome to the world of

2012 White hare survey - white hare sightings wanted!

Please get in touch if you have seen a white hare in your area this year. Although white hares are usually considered rare, there was an unprecedented number of sightings in 2011 (2011 results soon). We are repeating the survey again this year to provide further data on the white Irish hare phenomenon. As before, please send us your sighting, along with the date and nearest town or village - attach a photograph if you have one.

Irish Council Against Blood Sports
Endangered animal species should be protected by the government, not hunted down. In Great Britain and Ireland it is legal for people to shoot hares even though they are a threatened species in long term decline.

Please support these campaigns to protect and conserve the hares of GB and Ireland
Right now there is absolutely no legislation that protects brown hares in Great Britain. It is even legal for people to trap and kill hares at any time of the year, leaving the young to perish. If hares are not protected soon, they will disappear forever.
